Our journey started from very different personal experiences. For Professor Tom Brenna, it began with the birth of his premature twins and a research path that helped shape infant nutrition globally, including work that contributed to the FDA approval of DHA in infant formula. For Dr Craig Patch, it grew from a lifelong drive to improve health outcomes, strengthened by scientific research, clinical nutrition experience, and time spent witnessing the realities of infant health challenges in developing regions. That journey converged through an unexpected scientific discovery: the unique role of branched fats in vernix caseosa, often described as a newborn’s first protective nourishment. When we recognised the potential of this science to support gut health in a new way, Adepa was born. Today, Adepa Lifesciences is built on that original mission — to translate meaningful science into practical nutritional innovation.
